Energy storage for power generation and island energy centres
The problem
Load surges outrun the gas engines; an engine trip becomes a real risk.
What we install
Storage at 10/35 kV through a PCS: surge pick-up, load-rejection compensation, load sharing, frequency stabilisation.
- PCS 2.5 / 5 / 7.5 / 10 MW
- Containers 2.2–5 MWh
- EMS with a dispatch loop

Context
What drives the equipment selection
A gas or diesel engine picks up load in seconds, while a modern load changes in fractions of a second. Storage closes that gap: it absorbs the surge, takes the rejection and keeps frequency inside the band beyond which protection would trip the engine.
For island energy centres this is not a matter of savings but of whether the scheme works at all. The storage system performs five functions: pick-up when an engine trips, load-rejection compensation, load sharing between units, frequency stabilisation and power-quality support.
Connection is made at medium voltage, 10 or 35 kV, through a central conversion block that also provides galvanic isolation. The power-to-energy ratio is selected from the character of the surges, not from a catalogue page.
What we need for a calculation
- Generation set-up: type, number and rating of the units
- Character of the surges: magnitude and rise time
- Voltage class at the point of connection
- Operating-mode and dispatch-control requirements

How we work
Engineering audit
We go through the specification and the site: load category, required autonomy, operating conditions, what is already installed.
Sizing and selection
We size the battery against the real discharge profile — not “with a margin, by eye”. You get 2–3 options with different economics.
Supply and commissioning
Delivery from stock or to order, installation, commissioning, training for your operations team.
Service and monitoring
Warranty and post-warranty service, remote condition monitoring, replacements scheduled on actual condition.
Q & A
Frequently asked questions
How fast does storage respond to a surge?
The power stage responds within tens of milliseconds — orders of magnitude faster than an engine picks up load. That is why generation paired with storage is more stable than generation with spare capacity.
What power is available at medium voltage?
Conversion blocks from 2.5 to 10 MW at 6/10/35 kV; the battery side is assembled from containers. We size the arrangement for the required power and duration.
